Donna Rae Chambers, 72 of Aitkin, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2022 after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer. Donna was born November 11, 1949, to Ray and Darlene Streff in Le Mars, IA. She grew up in Slayton, MN. and graduated from Slayton High School in 1967.
Donna moved to Minneapolis where she met her soul mate, Loren, through a mutual friend and they married September 26, 1992. Together they blended their families: son Shane (Jenny) Roy, daughter Taydem (Scott) Wall, stepdaughters Angie (Dustin) Moulds and Tanya (Keith) Brunscheon; Grandchildren: Brennen, Owen, Sydney, Liam, Kylee, Landen, Lexi and Jackson.
Donna and Loren moved to Aitkin in 2001 where they enjoyed life on Hanging Kettle Lake. She worked as the Aitkin City Clerk until her retirement. Donna, our social butterfly, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, time at home, playing cards, gardening, and also an occasional margarita or two.
A Celebration of Donna’s life will be Saturday, April 2 from 1-4pm at the Aitkin American Legion Lee Post #86. The burial will be this spring in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN. Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Aitkin.
