Delores Rachuy was born on August 13, 1931, on the family farm near Kinbrae, Minnesota to Patrick and Elsie Christensen O’Neil. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On December 4, 1950, she and Elgie Rachuy were married at the Immanuel American Lutheran (Pfingsten) Church rural Fulda, MN. Following their marriage they farmed near Brewster, MN until 1957 when they moved to a farm south of Slayton, MN. In 1963 they purchased the current farm outside of Slayton. Delores was a hard-working farm wife, raising chickens, pigs and other livestock as well as helping with field work. She kept a large vegetable garden canning much of it for her family and others. Elgie passed away on July 4, 2011. Delores remained on the farm until May 2018 when she became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She passed away there on Monday, November 1, 2021, at the age of 90. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN and a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca. She also was a member of the Avoca American Legion Auxiliary. Delores enjoyed gardening, canning, Bingo, playing cards and yes... shopping. Family was a huge passion in Delores life. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all blessed to call her mom, grandma, and big grandma.
Survivors include her three sons, Robert Rachuy, Chuck Rachuy and Larry Rachuy and his wife, Heidi all of Slayton, MN, two grandchildren and their spouses, Erica and Stuart Lang of Shakopee, MN, and Cole and Lacey Rachuy of Slayton, MN, six great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Kinsley, and Harlo Lang, and Arayah, Beckett and Kye Rachuy, and one sister-in-law, Louise O’Neil of Fulda, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elgie, infant son, Ricky Rachuy, son, James Rachuy, three brothers, Donald O”Neil, Daryle, O’Neil, and Frank O’Neil and his wife, Shirley, two sisters and their spouses, Alice and Harm De-Groot and Barbara and William Rachuy.
Funeral services were held at American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Anne Hokenstan officiating. The organist was Sylvia Andersen with special music by Matt Kopperud. The pallbearers were Larry Rachuy, Cole Rachuy, Kelly Eggers, Terry Eggers, Stuart Lang, and Terry Rachuy. The honorary pallbearers were Chuck Rachuy, Robert Rachuy, and Erica Lang. Interment was at the Worthington City Cemetery in Worthington, MN.
