Case Vos, the son of Jacob “Jake” and Lillian (Lindsay) Vos, was born on July 26. 1925 in Moulton Twp., Murray Co., MN. He grew up on the family farm in Mason Twp, and attended country school. Case served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from September of 1945 until his Honorable Discharge in December of 1946. He returned to the farm and was united in marriage to Lona Gehlsen on November 3, 1950 at the Iona Presbyterian Church. After their marriage they started farming north of the family farm and in 1960 they moved to a farm in Lowville Twp. They retired from farming in 1988 and in 1991 they moved into Slayton. He remained at home after Lona’s death in May of 2003. Case married Doris Reikow on May 4, 2006 and they made their home in Slayton. Doris died on March 4, 2023. Case passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Our House Hospice Home of Murray County in Slayton, MN at the age of 97. He was a member of Lake Sarah Baptist Church and former member of the Iona Presbyterian Church where he had held many positions. Case also belonged to the Murray County Fair Board, Murray County Cattlemen, National Beef Council, Hadley Elevator Board, where he had been President, Slayton School Agriculture Advisory Committee. He was also a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion. He enjoyed welding, iron work, wood working, hunting and fishing and shoeing horses.
Survivors include his 3 children, Lois Stofferan of Sibley, IA, Mike (Sue) Vos of Bliss, ID and Pat Vos of Carnelian Bay, CA; 6 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren; 6 great-greatgrandchildren and 2 sisters, Mavis Pierson of Woodstock, MN and Jackie Ast of Maynard, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 wives, sister, Jean Peterson, 3 brothers, Frank (Sally) Vos, Greg (Ardyth) Vos and Les Vos and 2 brothers-in-law, Merlin Ast and Ray Pierson.
Funeral services were held at Lake Sarah Baptist Church rural Slayton, MN at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 with Rev. Kory Tedrick officiating. The pallbearers were Brian Stofferan, Kevin Stofferan, Bret Vos, Jerilyn Stofferan, Stephanie Malson, Amanda West. Interment was at Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN.
