Catherine “Cathy” Bailey, age 80, of Apply Valley, Minnesota, passed away on October 16, 2024, at her home.
Cathy was born on July 26, 1944, in Tracy, Minnesota to James and Rita (Ackerman) Malone. She was the oldest of ten children. She grew up in Currie, MN and graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in 1962. Cathy attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Minneapolis and graduated in 1965. On October 9, 1965, she and Thomas Bailey were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in South Minneapolis for three years before moving to Apple Valley and buying their first, and last home. Cathy was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior, Apple Valley Fire Department Auxiliary, MN Ducks Unlimited and many other conservation groups. She was quite a sports fan, especially devoted to the MN Vikings, MN Twins and MN State High School Tournaments. Cathy enjoyed gardening, reading, chatting and being with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Bailey, her children and their spouses, Tom Bailey Jr. of Apple Valley, MN, Pat (Masa) Bailey of Savage, MN and Marie (Josh) Davis of Richfield, MN, grandchildren Andrew and Lauren Davis, her siblings Eileen (Jim) Malone-Beach of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Paul (Ellen) Malone of Slayton, MN, Jim (Diane) Malone of Currie, MN, John (Nancy) Malone of Currie, MN, Pat (Luanne) Malone of Eagle River, AK, Joe Malone of Girdwood, AK, Neil (Mary Nell) Malone of Goleta, CA, Bob (Laura) Malone of Golden, CO, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, beloved grandson James Bailey, brother William Malone, sister Mary Beth Malone and nephew Jameson Malone.
Funeral Services: Church of the Risen Savior in Burnsville, MN on October 30, 2024, 10:00 a.m. visitation, 11:00 a.m. service. Luncheon to follow at Church of the Risen Savior and 4:00 p.m. social gathering at Panino Brothers in Apple Valley, MN.
