Dona Fuerstenberg was born on June 29, 1929, on the family farm in Lyon County, Minnesota to Erich and Christine Ahlschlager Fuhrmann. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Balaton High School in 1949. Following high school Dona worked in Worthington for a short time. On May 16, 1951, she and Remigius (Bob) Fuerstenberg were married at St. Kilian Church. Following their marriage, they farmed near St. Kilian before taking over the Fuerstenberg family farm and raising their eight children. In 1999 they retired and moved to Worthington, MN. Bob passed away on August 27, 2000. Dona remained in Worthington until November 2018 when she moved to Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. Dona passed away there surrounded by her family on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the age of 93. She was a member of St. Kilian Church and active in the C.C.W. Dona enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, quilting, gardening, and baking. Survivors include her eight children and their spouses, Wes and Deb Fuerstenberg of Luverne, MN, Marilyn Winter of Jackson, MN, Bruce Fuerstenberg and (Janet Speckmier) of Fulda, MN, Gerald and Linda Fuerstenberg of Wilmont, MN, Dennis and Donna Fuerstenberg of Dell Rapids, SD, Gary and Karen Fuerstenberg of Wilmont, MN, Colleen Jansma of Worthington, MN, and Cheryl Nelson and (Kenneth Will) of Windom, MN, 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, two siblings, Norman Fuhrmann, Gwendolyn Olson both of Balaton, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob, two infant sons, Joseph and Remigius Fuerstenberg, son-in-law, Darryl Jansma, grandson, Shawn Fuerstenberg, infant brother, Gordon Fuhrmann, one brother, Edward Fuhrmann and his wife, Evonne, one sister, Vivian Olsen and her husband, Andrew, one brother-in-law, Vincent Olson, and one sisterin-law,

Funeral services were held at St. Kilian Church in St. Kilian, MN on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Msgr. Rick Colletti officiating. The organist was Kathy Mitchell. The song leader was Doug Brake. The pallbearers were grandsons, Wayne Fuerstenberg, Daryl Fuerstenberg, Eric Fuerstenberg, Justin Fuerstenberg, Bradley Jansma, and Casey Nelson. Interment was at St. Kilian Cemetery in St. Kilian, MN.

Visitation was on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at St. Kilian Church in St. Kilian MN from 4-7 p.m. also one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Totzke Funeral home of Slayton was entrusted with arrangements. To view online obituary and send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com.
