Alvin Boock was born on April 24, 1947, in Pipestone, Minnesota to William “Bill” and Alice Knee Boock. He grew up in Pipestone until 1951 when the family moved to the Bemidji area. In 1961 the family moved to Lake Wilson, MN where Alvin graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1965. On October 26, 1965, Alvin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge on October 25, 1968, returned to the Lake Wilson area. On February 27, 1968, he and Mary Ann “Snooks” Gehlsen were married at the Iona Presbyterian Church in Iona, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in 29 Palms, CA for a short time before moving to Slayton. In 1974 they moved to Ocheyedan, IA where they remained until 1977 when they returned to Slayton. Alvin drove truck for Sathers for over 30 years, worked for Rupp Construction Company, and drove bus for Ludolph Bus Services. He retired in 2009. Alvin always looked forward to time at the lake, pontoon rides and fall hunting season with his grandkids. Due to a stroke in May 2026 Alvin moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on June 5, 2026. He passed away there on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the age of 79 with family by his side. He was a member of the Iona Presbyterian Church and served as groundskeeper for many years. Alvin served on the Badger Lake Cemetery Board and was a member of the Wilmont VFW Post. Alvin enjoyed time with his family, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and the Minnesota Twins, old Westerns and WWE Monday Night RAW, mowing lawns and just being outside.

Survivors include his wife, Snooks of Slayton, MN, four children, Todd and Penny Boock of Slayton, MN, Chad and Denise Boock of Becker, MN, Karla Bose of Avoca, MN, and Jamie Boock and Tiffany Gilbertson of Sioux Falls, SD, eight grandchildren, Austin Boock, Aaron Boock, and Amber Behnke, Amanda Mracek, Tyler Boock, and Dylan Boock, and Ashley Goddard and Kristi Bose, 11 great grandchildren and one on the way in December, Lily and Lena Boock, Hudson Boock and Ethan, Derek and Melanie Mracek, and Grant, Reed Boock, and Evit, Elaina, Elise Fredericks, two sisters, Linda and Tom Wegner of Eden Prairie, MN, and Mary Manderscheid of Moscow, ID, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Dennis and Mary Ann Boock and brother- in-law, Bob Manderscheid.

Memorial Services were at Iona Presbyterian Church in Iona, MN on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Heidi Winter officiating. The organist was Sharon Lais. The honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN. Military honors accorded by the Wilmont VFW Post.

Visitation was on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-6 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
