SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MINUTES MURRAY COUNTY BOARD A SUMMARY OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARDO.O December 27, 2022, 8:30 a.m. Pursuant to notice, the Murray County Board of Commissioners convened with the following members present in person: Commissioners; Malone, Gunnink, Kluis, Welgraven and Thiner.

Murray County 4-H was awarded a Monogram Foods Loves Kids Foundation Grant to host multi-generational community events. The third of five Community Nights was hosted this last Sunday at the Murray County 4-H Building. Winter Olympics was the event for the day where there were several events that people competed in which included snowball fights, pool noodle hockey, snowflake salt drawings, 100-meter snow race, bread making, and many more. Soups and bread were served during the event.

The Murray County Economic Development Authority (EDA) has some great programs for 2023 to assist with both housing and business. The Murray County Home Initiative is a good opportunity for anyone planning to build a home in Murray County.

The oath of office was administered to newly elected commissioner Jackie Meyer and to reelected commissioner Dennis Welgraven. Newly elected Sheriff Heath Landsman along with reelected County officials Heidi Winter and Karen Brown were sworn into their positions.

Scott Berger, Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Alexandria Technical & Community College, recognizes individual students for academic excellence. Abigail Hamman of Slayton, MN was named to the Dean’s List for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credits Fall Semester 2022.

MNDOT REMINDS PUBLIC NOT TO PUSH SNOW ONTO ROADS The Minnesota Department of Transportation wants to remind the public that it is illegal to deposit snow on or next to a public highway or street. Minnesota law and many local ordinances prohibit plowing, blowing, shoveling, or otherwise placing of snow onto public roadways.
