By John Stenen Many years ago there was a small group of scientists in the Swiss Alps searching for rare plants. Using binoculars, they spotted a very rare and beautiful plant in a valley far below them. They had all the ropes and climbing gear with them, but the descent into the valley appeared to be beyond their capability. As they stood pondering the situation, a boy came running along the path with his dog. “Young man,” said one of the scientists, “we will pay you a nice sum of money if we could lower you down to the valley and have you secure that plant, we will then pull you back to safety.” To their surprise, the boy turned and ran back the way he had come and twenty minutes later he returned with his father and said to the men. “Alright, I will do it, but only if my dad holds the rope.”

Preliminary plans have been developed for the upgrade and improvement of approximately 2.4 miles of the existing trail corridor west of Lake Wilson and the Lake Wilson Trailhead. Answer: When it comes to Ebikes, a driver’s license or permit is not required. However, the minimum operator age is 15 years old.

After entering a writing contest and becoming a finalist; then not knowing where they placed until the presentation of awards on Sunday, April 13, 2025; the excitement and anticipation rose as students and their families gathered for the Creative Writing Awards Ceremony.

Slayton City Council, with all members present, held their regular meeting on Monday, April 21, 2025. This was the first meeting where residents could tune into a live stream video of the meeting via the city website. According to City Administrator Josh Malchow there were 4 live views and within the first 24 hours an additional 35 views of the video.
