WHAT IS A FAIR

Landlords, farmers, and agribusiness professionals should make plans to attend one of the informative in-person meetings being held across Minnesota starting in October through December. These free meetings are being provided by the University of Minnesota Extension. Farm land rental rates are the largest input cost the farmer has, and determining a fair farm rental agreement is always challenging.

Negotiating a fair rental agreement that satisfies both the land owner and the farmer can be difficult to navigate. David Bau, Extension Educator in Ag Business Management, will provide several ways how to do this at his in-person workshops; by examples, factsheets and worksheets, to determine a fair farm land rental rate for both parties. Make plans to attend one of the upcoming meetings in the southwest: In Pipestone: Thursday, November 7, 2024 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Pipestone County Emergency Management Building 811 5th St SE Pipestone, MN 56164 In Slayton: Wednesday, December 11, 2024 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Murray County Fairgrounds 4-H Building 3048 Broadway Ave., Slayton, MN 56172 For a complete list of workshops being offered check out Extension’s website at: extension. umn.edu for all dates and locations.
