West Central Association for Realtors (WCAR) held its annual Realtor Appreciation Event last October, bringing together approximately 230 members for an evening of celebration and community giving. A highlight of the event is the opportunity for realtors to nominate local charities, with three organizations ultimately selected to receive donations.

Among last year’s recipients was the Friends of Casey Jones Trail, thanks to a nomination from Maike Houser of Houser Homes - Keller Williams Preferred Realty. “It’s just another way of Houser Homes and Realtors giving back to the community,” said Houser.

The event featured a silent auction, mini-games, and a free-will donation hat passed around to raise funds. The proceeds were then divided among the three chosen charities, supporting important community initiatives.

Looking ahead, this year’s event will be held at the end of October, and Houser plans to nominate the Friends of Casey Jones Trail once again. “Without my nomination, we wouldn’t have been chosen to receive a donation. The selection process considers location and community impact, and I’m hopeful we’ll be chosen again,” Houser shared.

WCAR’s annual event is a testament to the generosity of its members and their commitment to strengthening the communities they serve.
