three of the four races at the MCC/F home meet on October 5 in Slayton.
In the junior high girls 2,400 meter race, Maggie Keller placed seventh at 11:00, followed by Halana Grogan in eighth at 11:10 and Cassie Scandrett in ninth at 11:11. Sophia Hamersma placed 12th in 11:48 while Morgan Beek placed 18th in 13:43.
Kole Appel led the way for MCC/F in the junior high boys 2,400 meter race, claiming the individual championship among 13th at 9:51, Jack Stelter in 26th at 12:17, Garrit Bergman in 28th in 12:51 and Easton Hoffman in 32nd in 13:54.
The Warriors also claimed individual victories in both varsity races.
Senior Laiken Farris led the varsity girls field of 40 runners, crossing the finish line first in 21:25. Sophomore Mara Clarke added a fourth-place finish in 22:58, while Isabela Schreier placed eighth in 23:15 and Holland Vogel finished 17th in 24:47.
The varsity boys dominated the competition, winning the meet with 32 points. Junior Aiden Appel took the individual title with a remarkable time of 17:32, finishing 45 seconds ahead of the runner-up David Botello Ramos of Jackson County Central, who crossed the finish line in 18:17.
Appel was one of several MCC/F runners near the front of the pack. Senior Alex Betz and sophomore Micah Janssen also had strong performances, placing third in 18:56 and fifth in 19:12, respectively. Freshman Carter Larson was 11th in 19:58, followed by freshman Connor Pieske in 12th at 20:15.
Junior Tyler Reith placed 15th in 21:00, followed by freshman Bobby Keller in 16th at 21:14, senior Wesley Hause in 23rd at 21:47, senior Beckett Stelter in 25th at 21:58, freshman Allen Ahrens in 36th at 24:15, freshman Garret Reith in 37th at 24:36 and freshman Ashton Reese in 38th at 24:53.
