WARRIORS SHINE AT CONFERENCE CROSS COUNTRY MEET

By Allie Paulzine, Student Reporter The 2024 Red Rock Conference cross country meet showcased the impressive talent and determination from our Warriors as they prepared for next week’s sections.

In the junior high girls’ 1600m race, Tessa Alquist finished strong in 15th place with a time of 8:01. The junior high boys also demonstrated their skills, with Micah Janssen leading the pack at 8th place in 5:47. Garret Reith and Connor Pieske followed closely behind, finishing 9th and 10th with times of 6:11 and 6:12, respectively. Other notable finishes included Carter Larson (17th, 6:42), Carson Sykora (20th, 6:53), and Bobby Keller (27th, 8:18).

The varsity girls’ race was a highlight for the Warriors, who secured 2nd place with a total of 43 points. Eighth-grader Mara Clarke clinched victory, finishing the race in an impressive 20:34. Other standout performances included Sophia Nelson in 4th place (21:39), Holland Vogel in 11th (22:52), and Isabela Schreier (19th, 23:52). Ruth Ethridge and Laiken Farris rounded out the team with solid finishes in 23rd (24:36) and 24th (24:39), respectively.

The varsity boys’ team dominated the competition, winning the meet with a total of 31 points. Evan Bumgardner took the individual title with a remarkable time of 17:28, followed closely by Mathew Stapek in 2nd (17:28.67). Alex Betz also had a strong performance, finishing 4th in 17:43. Other top finishes included Caleb Appel (11th, 19:09), Aiden Appel (13th, 19:44), and Beckett Stelter (16th, 19:50). Tyler Reith, Alex Kueny, and Wesley Hause continued the momentum, finishing 18th, 20th, and 21st, respectively.

With such strong performances at the conference meet, the Warriors are poised for success as they head into section competition next week. The team’s dedication and hard work have truly paid off, setting the stage for an exciting postseason.

They will compete next on Thursday October 24th in Luverne, Minnesota at the section 3A meet. Go Warriors!!
