WARRIORS HOST HOME MEET AT SLAYTON GOLF COURSE

By Allie Paulzine, Student Reporter The Murray County Central Warriors hosted their home meet on Tuesday, September, 24th. The Slayton golf course is notorious for the challenging hills, the harshest one named “Bertha”. All athletes competing last Tuesday persevered and made an effort to subdue those hills.

The boy’s varsity 5000m meter race was competitive once again. The Warrior boys won with 46 points. The Worthington boys were just one point behind them in second. Fanuel Wolday of Worthington once again took first place with another strong race. MCC/F’s Evan Bumgardner (17:17) led the team again, placing second behind Wolday. Junior, Mathew Stapek (17:43) was also a top-ten finisher for the Warriors, finishing sixth. Alex Betz (18:20) and Aiden Appel (18:26) then finished 10th and 11th for a third runner in the top ten for the Warriors. Caleb Appel was up next in 17th place in 19:05. Alex Keuny (20:13) and Tyler Reith (20:21) placed 24th and 26th. Zach Kirchner (20:37) wasn’t far behind in 30th. The final runners for the boys varsity were Blaine Braun (21:50), Walker Biren (22:43), Allen Ahrends (23:59), Yordi Oliveros (24:51), and William Biren (28:08).

The girls varsity also had another successful race. The Warrior girls placed second with 66 points behind Spring-

field/ Cedar Mountain, scoring 47 points. Eighth grader Mara Clarke, once again won the girls varsity race in 20:32. Then, in seventh was Sophia Nelson with a time of 21:35. Freshman, Holland Vogel (22:21) had another impressive race placing 12th. Laiken Farris (22:35) then came in 17th. Ruth Ethridge (25:30) placed 35th and Isabela Schreier (26:15) placed 40th.

The junior high teams had a shortened 2,000 meter race. The boys placed third with 56 points. Micah Janssen (9:02) led, earning fifth place. Garret Reith ran 9:57, placing 13th. In 22nd was Carson Sykora with a time of 10:40. Carter Larson (11:41) placed 29th. And finally was Bobby Keller (13:09) in 33rd. There was only one girl for the Warriors in the junior high race. Tessa Alquist placed 25th with a time of 13:04.

Congrats to all the Warriors on impressive and competitive races! They will compete next on Thursday, October, 3rd at the Olivia Golf Course. Go Warriors!!
