The Rebels had one final meet before they would host the Red Rock Conference Championships. They traveled to Worthington to participate in the 69th running of the Trojan Relays. Fifteen teams partook in the meet with 7 of them assigned to the AA division and 8 to the A. MCC would be in the class A division which was made up of all conference schools with the exception of Mountain Lake Area.
In the sprints, Brylei Schreier ran an aggressive race on her way to winning the 400 by over three seconds in a time of 63.41. Teammate Lily Daniels was 7th in the same event. The boys and girls hurdles have consistently been some of the top finishers in their respective events. On the boys side, Ashton Kalas was runner up in the 110 hurdles, getting slowed down late in the race after hitting a couple of hurdles. Brealyn Damm was the girls 3rd place finisher in the 100 hurdles while Lindsey Hause was the 300 hurdle champion.
The distance events continue to be a strength of the teams. Eighth grade boys Alex Betz and Wesley Hause have shown great promise on the boys side. Alex ran a personal best time of 2:15 in the 800 to place 4th, while Wesley also ran a personal best in the 3200 with a time of 11:57. The girls went 1-2 in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with Ashley Overgaauw and Sophia Nelson in the 1600 and Amanda Overgaauw and Holland Vogel in the 3200.
The boys and girls 4x100 relays each placed 5th. On the boys team was Ashton Kalas, Carson Engelkes, Dylan Doeden and Thomas Huso. The girls team consisted of Reese Gilbertson, Madilyn Kramer (both only 7th graders), Allie Paulzine and Abby Overman. In the 4x200, the girls team of Courtney Gengler, Brealyn Damm, Abby Overman and Madilyn Kramer came in 4th while the boys team of Caleb Rosenbrook, Carson Engelkes, Dylan Doeden and Jackson Schroeder was 6th. The girls 4x400 (Brylei Schreier, Sophia Nelson, Lindey Hause, Ashley Overgaauw) and 4x800 (Megan Bakke, Allie Paulzine, Lily Daniels and Amanda Overgaauw) teams both came in first. The young boys 4x800 team ran their best time of the year placing 4th. Team members were Alex Betz, Beckett Stelter, Wesley Hause (all 8th graders) and Walker Biren (9th grader).
In the field events, senior Dylan Doeden was runner up in the discus with a throw of 107’4”. Callie Platt was 7th in the girls discus. In the shot put, Thomas Huso and Broox Platt placed 7th and 8th while Callie Platt was 6th on the girls side. High jumpers Lindsey Hause and Carter Knakmuhs were 5th and 8th. Abby Overman was 3rd in the triple jump while Brealyn Damm was 5th in the long.
