SLAYTON AREA CHAMBER’S PUMPKINFEST RETURNS OCTOBER 17; VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Slayton Area Chamber of Commerce invites area families to celebrate the fall season during its annual Pumpkinfest on Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton.
Pumpkinfest is a free family event featuring a variety of activities for children and families. This year’s festivities will include games, face painting, crafts, a bouncy house, petting zoo, horsedrawn rides around the fairgrounds, food and more.
One of the highlights of the event is the annual pumpkin giveaway. Every child through sixth grade will receive a free pumpkin while supplies last.
“Pumpkinfest is all about providing families with an opportunity to get out, have some fun together and enjoy the fall season,” said the Slayton Area Chamber of Commerce. “Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and volunteers, we’re able to offer the event at no cost to families.”
In addition to providing an afternoon of family fun, Pumpkinfest is an opportunity to bring families and visitors into Slayton and introduce them to the community. The Chamber hopes those attending the event will take some extra time to explore Slayton, visit local businesses, shop, dine or make other stops while they are in town.
Events such as Pumpkinfest not only provide activities for area families, but also help showcase Slayton and encourage visitors to support the local businesses that contribute to the community throughout the year.
Volunteers Needed
The Chamber is also looking for volunteers to help with face painting and games during Pumpkinfest. Individuals, students, businesses, organizations and community groups are encouraged to lend a hand.
Volunteers do not need to commit to the entire event. Those who can help for even a portion of the day are welcome and appreciated.
