In the heart of our communities, nestled amidst bustling streets and friendly faces, there exists a group of dedicated individuals united by a shared passion creating a better community. We are the Slayton Area Women of Today, a non-profit organization committed to making a difference in the lives of those around us.
Our journey began with a simple idea: to spread warmth and kindness through handmade crafts. What started as a humble endeavor has blossomed into something truly extraordinary—a vibrant community of artisans, volunteers, and supporters, all working together to create moments of magic and meaning.
Each year, we host the Autumn Boutique unlike any other, transforming nine buildings into bustling havens of creativity and inspiration. Our boutique showcases the talents of crafters from the three-state area. Additionally, the boutique shoppers visit numerous businesses throughout Slayton providing a boost for the local economy.
But our mission extends far beyond the confines of our boutique walls. We believe in the power of connection, the importance of family, and the joy of giving back. That’s why we proudly sponsor an enchanting father-daughter prom, an afternoon filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories that last a lifetime.
As we move forward into the next stage, we are encountering a new challenge. Our group has decreased in size, and the future of our beloved events is uncertain. We are seeking individuals who share our vision, values, and strong commitment to the community to help us overcome this challenge. The decline in our group not only affects the future of the events but also impacts the donations we have been able to provide. Since 2012, we have generously donated over $75,000 to various organizations.
