Slayton City Council met on Monday, June 20th. The agenda was approved with additions. The meeting minutes from June 6th were approved. The claims for the month were also approved.
City Administrator Josh Malchow gave the Council an update on the Xcel Energy Franchise agreement. The city sent them a letter asking for the data that they had previously requested by end of June. They await a response. He is looking into costs to get an independent consultant in to do the data research. Malchow contacted Bisbee regarding the roof on city hall and the flashing will be getting done this week.
New business includes the sealcoat bid for 2022. City Works Director brought a bid from Pearson Bros., Inc. for the work to be completed. There was not a lot of interest in other companies to bid on this project. The only company that provided one was Pearson Bros., Inc. The Council approved this bid to have the work completed. The next was an update on the weather sirens in Slayton. Mahon spoke with Carl Nyquist Murray County Emergency Management Director for help. They were able to use the backup box to replace the siren in Gullord park and all 4 are working again.
The last item of discussion was to approve the resolution for approved corporate signers for the City.
With no other business the meeting was adjourned and the next City Council meeting will be July 6th.
