By Norma Dittman The Slayton City Council was informed at their Monday, October 20th meeting, that there is an in-person Public Utility Company hearing scheduled for December 10th at 5 p.m. in the Murray County Central auditorium. The meeting will be streamed through Christiansen Broadcasting. Another virtual interactive hearing will be scheduled for December 1st or 2nd.
Also viewed by the council was the first draft of the Wasterwater/ Water Planning. Lincoln Pipestone Rural Water is being considered as a provider. In new business, a first quote and estimate for the $403,000 Minnesota Department of Education Facilities Grant was viewed. The quote is for renovating the senior center/library building. The quote includes sealing of the basement walls to prevent water from filtering into it. The proposal was from Groundworks of Inver Grove Heights, MN.
Gary Welch, owner of Southern Minnesota Tree Armour, Tracy, MN. He spoke with the council members regarding the emerald ash bore, the death it causes in ash trees. Welch was able to present information regarding what needs to be done to remove trees, and further prevention of the disease.
The next meeting of the Slayton City Council will be Monday, November 3rd, 2025, at 6 p.m.
