The Slayton City Council held a public hearing on Monday, Feb 26th at 7pm. The intention of this meeting was to take public input regarding the possibility to create a Public Utility in Slayton and to place this question on the ballot for people to vote on at special election on May 14, 2024. There was one individual, Brian Postma, present to listen and the city explained the process to him.
The Council passed two resolutions.
The first resolution is saying The City of Slayton wants to move forward with the possibility to do a Public Utility for the City. The second resolution is saying the City of Slayton wants to hold a special election on May 14, 20024 to ask the taxpayers if the City should move forward with a Public Utility.
The polling place for this special election on May 14, 2024 will be Slayton Senior Center, 2451 Broadway Ave. Slayton, MN 56172. The hours of operation will be from 7am to 8pm.
A reminder that you must be registered to vote to be eligible to vote in the special election. Unregistered individuals may register to vote at the polling place on Election Day.
