SLAYTON CITY COUNCIL HELD BUDGET WORKSHOP

Slayton City Council met on Tuesday, September 3rd due to the Monday Holiday. All council members were present expect Chris Jacobson.

The agenda was approved as were the meeting minutes from August 19th and the claims for August. Council member Blake Heronimus asked about the Electric Revenue Bonds, City Administrator Josh Malchow explained these were for the Bond legal work that had been completed for the city.

Malchow and Police Chief Jeremy Steinle reported to the Board about the compliance review/audit for the police department and they passed. They looked at hiring practices and policies, making sure training is in compliance. Mayor Carney commended Steinle on a job well done showing “good leadership”.

Moving on to new business, the Frontier Easements were presented to the Council for approval. A map and appropriate language were included in their packets for review. This was approved. They next approved the purchase of a new nozzle for the Fire Department. There is a grant available to help offset this expense and will not result in any budget overage. They also approved an amendment to the SW Housing Partnership Broadband Grant for an additional $4,080 to help offset the cost of some additional expenses that have come up.

The Council then moved into their workshop to discuss budgeting for the next year.
