SLAYTON AWARDED SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT COORDINATOR AS PART OF COMMUNITY RESILIENCE INITIATIVE

Slayton has been awarded a Sustainability Project Coordinator as part of a new Community Resilience Initiative of Climate Impact Corps. This AmeriCorps initiative, along with Community Forestry Initiative and Community Resilience Initiative, plan to place 100 members in Minnesota communities. They are trained to provide usable solutions – ranging from energysaving insights to tree planting – to communities and residents in need.

The Sustainability Project Coordinator assigned to Slayton will serve at Southwest Regional Development Commission. The coordinator will focus on supporting local sustainability projects, community engagement and local action to help households and organizations make sustainable choices.

To serve as a Sustainability Project Coordinator, you must be at least 18 years old, be a high school graduate or equivalent, and be willing to serve full-time through July 15, 2023. AmeriCorps members are extensively trained and receive a $1,100 stipend every two weeks, plus an additional $4,546 for student loans or tuition. Free individual health insurance and childcare assistance are also available.

The application deadline is October 5 to begin serving in October. Anyone interested is encouraged to visit www.ampact. us/community-resilience.
