In celebration of America’s 250th Birthday, the Slayton Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting residents and businesses throughout the Slayton area to showcase their patriotic spirit by participating in the Star-Spangled Decorating Contest this July.
The contest encourages participants to decorate their homes, yards, storefronts, offices, or business properties in red, white, and blue as the community joins together to honor this historic milestone in our nation’s history.
“We’re excited to see Slayton come alive with patriotic pride as we begin celebrating America’s 250th birthday,” said Chamber representatives. “This is a fun opportunity for families, businesses, and organizations to get involved, beautify our community, and help create a festive atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.”
The Chamber will award two winners at the end of July:
• Best Residential Display — $100 in Chamber Bucks
• Best Business Display — $100 in Chamber Bucks Participation is free. To enter, residents and business owners simply need to email their name and address to slaytonchamber@ gmail.com. Entries will be accepted throughout the month of July.
Decorations may include flags, banners, bunting, lights, patriotic displays, themed landscaping, window decorations, and other creative expressions of American pride.
The contest is part of a broader community effort to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary and encourage civic pride throughout Slayton.
