The MCC Rebels played host to the Wolverines of Mountain Lake Area Comfrey on Tuesday, May 9th. The Rebels lost to the Wolverines a week earlier in Mountain Lake after the Rebels blew a 7-2 lead and a 9-6 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning. Unfortunately, the Rebels wouldn’t play well enough to lose a lead on Tuesday as the Wolverines would pick up the win never trailing in the game.

Offensively the Rebels would have one baserunner in the first three innings. The Rebels would score a single run in the 4th inning when the Rebels would load the bases with no outs on a pair of walks separated by a single. The Rebels would hit an infield fly to shortstop but the Rebels would get doubled off at first base. Mary Lou McNab would score a run on an error as Zoey Iverson would reach base with two outs. The Rebels would score two runs in the 5th inning as Abby Loosbrock would single in Emmi Peltola and would advance to second on the throw to the plate. Alyssa Boerboom would courtesy run for Loosbrock and would advance on a passed ball by the Wolverines. She would score on a sacrifice fly to left field. The Rebels would fail to score another run in the game.

The Wolverines on the other hand didn’t hit the ball deep but they did hit them where the Rebels weren’t. The Wolverines would score one run in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth, and one run in the sixth. The Wolverines put the ball in play and though they never once hit it over the head of the Rebels they were able to hit the ball up the middle and in front of the Rebel outfielders. MCC had three errors that didn’t help matters but the Wolverines simply ran the bases well and hit the ball through the infield. The Wolverines would get the win 7 to 3.

Thea Schneider picked up the loss for the Rebels allowing 9 hits, 1 walk, and 3 earned runs while striking out 4. At the plate, the Rebels had two hits one by Abby Loosbrock and another by Thea Schneider. Loosbrock and Mary Lou McNab had an RBI each. Ken-ndy Simon picked up the win for the Wolverines allowing just two hits while striking out 10. She walked 4 and only allowed 1 earned run. The Rebels will play at home against Adrian Ellsworth on Thursday.
