The Rebels competed in their first of four varsity conference meets this past Thursday. The boys traveled to Mountain Lake, while the girls competed in Fulda. Both teams experienced a wide range of weather conditions throughout the day, from sunny skies to thunderstorms. The girls were able to complete their round with minimal disruption, while the boys faced a delay due to lightning.

On the boys side, Murray County Central finished 5th overall with a team score of 368. Kaden Landsman once again led the Rebels, carding an 85 with eight pars and one birdie. He was supported by Jett Veldhuisen (92), Gary Plotz (94), Hunter Reese (97), and Keagan Wiekeraad (106). As a team, MCC competed in a tightly contested field, with HLOF/ WWG taking the top spot at 335. Individually, the boys competition was led by Micah Fast of Mountain Lake Area, who earned medalist honors with a 79. Parker Fey (SWMCH-EHS) followed with an 81, while Neil Kuehl and Dominic Lee (HLOF/ WWG) tied for 3rd with 82s.

For the girls, MCC placed 2nd overall with a team score of 383, finishing just behind Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (377). Rachael Huso led the Rebels with an 89, earning a tie for 2nd place individually. Huso carded four pars and noted that she was focused and locked in on the front nine but had difficulty maintaining that momentum on the back nine. She was followed by Natalie Einck (95), Lizzie Daniels (98), Elysia Korver (101), Brielle Plotz (110), and Emersyn Meyer (115), all contributing to the team’s strong finish. Individually, Teigyn Oleary of Russell-Tyler- Ruthton took medalist honors with an 87. Huso tied for 2nd alongside Izzy Thomas (RTR) with scores of 89.

MCC will compete in three additional 18-hole conference meets this season. For individual standings, golfers will count their two best scores from the first three meets, along with their score from the final meet. These three rounds will determine individual medalists and All-Conference honors. For team results, all four meets are combined to determine the overall conference champion and runner-up.
