Looking for another win, the Rebels were back in action in Edgerton on Tuesday, October 10th taking on the Flying Dutchmen in conference action.
MCC came out in the first set ready to take down Edgerton but started off slowly through the rotation. Setter Kelli Miller connected with Kate Blankenship and Kate Slettum to pace the Rebels trading points with the Dutchmen until the game ended in the visitor’s favor, 2521.
The second set found the Rebels behind early on and struggling to make something positive happen. The Dutchmen were on fire and took advantage of the free balls being sent their way. MCC committed too many hitting errors in the set and fell, 15-25.
The Rebels seemed more determined, but still fell behind early in game three. They had a mid-game comeback, but Edgerton’s attacks proved too much and they took the game, 25-22.
The battle for game 4 was a tight game and a couple of ace blocks by Abby Overman late in the set sparked a bit of energy for MCC, but they were unable to control the ball allowing Edgerton to pull ahead toward the end, winning the set, 25-21, and the match.
Kate Slettum and Suttyn Schryvers were perfect from the service line. Slettum (16/16, 8 pts, 4 aces) also contributed 27 assists and 10 Kills. Schryvers (19/19, 12 pts, 2 aces) also had 11 digs. Chipping in offensively for MCC was Atalie Rosenbrook with 12 Kills and Kate Blankenship added 8; Defensively, Emmi Peltola had 24 Digs, Blankenship had 20 and Abby Loosbrock had 4 Aces Blocks.
MCC will finish up their regular season on the road as they travel to Tyler to take on the Knights, October 16th.
