Rebel volleyball was back in action, traveling to Westbrook in conference action against the Chargers. The MCC C-squad started the evening with a win over the host, 25-16, 25-23 and 13-11 before time ran out in the 3rd set. Next up for MCC was the B-squad giving their best, but falling in three sets, 20-25, 15-25 and 6-15.

The main event was controlled by the home team. WWG was able to string together runs of points, keeping MCC in the dark and unable to answer back, taking the set, 25-10. It looked a bit better for the visitors in set two, but they were still unable to get anything going, falling behind 0-2 in the match, with a score of 19-25.

A slow start in set three was broken open with Suttyn Schryvers at the service line pushing the Chargers to take their first time out with a Rebel lead, 11-7. The break iced MCC’s server scrapping back one point at a time until the game was tied up at 13.

A very determined Kate Blankenship took residency at the service line and served up four points, including an ace, before WWG took their final time out, 17-12, Rebels lead. Senior middle Abby Loosbrock denied every attack by the Chargers, keeping Blankenship at the line through the end of the set. Excitement flooded the Rebel bench as Loosbrock threw up back to back to back blocks, shutting down any chance of a WWG comeback. MCC forces a fourth set, 25-13.

MCC jumps out to a 6-1 lead, picking up right where they ended the last set. WWG began chipping away at the lead and the Rebels cling to a little cushion until the Chargers come within one and MCC takes a timeout to protect the lead.

Both teams fought for momentum from point 17 and it finally settled with the home team. Timely ball handling errors by MCC secured the match for WWG, 25-21.

MCC collects 33 Kills, 47 Digs, 28 Set Assists, 10 Blocks and 5 Ace serves on the night as a team. Seven was the magic number for Rebels players: 7 Blocks, 7 Kills for Loosbrock, 7 Set Assists for Kelli Miller and 7 Kills for Thea Schneider. Emmi Peltola added 15 digs while Kate Slettum had 10 and 15 Assists.
