In what was a long week, the MCC Rebels were looking to finish the week with 3 wins and 1 loss. The Rebels were on the road to Cottonwood to play the Lakeview Lakers who were also coming off a win on Thursday, May 5. The Rebels had just 6 regular season games left heading to Lakeview, with three more games in a Jackson tournament on the schedule for the rest of the year. With playoff seeding coming up, every game is important. The Rebels got the win they were looking for, while getting everyone into the action on Friday.

The Rebels started the game strong, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning with Abby Loosbrock and Thea Schneider hitting triples. Loosbrock scored on a sacrifice fly by Mary Lou McNab and Schneider scored on a passed ball by the Laker catcher, putting the Rebels up 2-0 after one inning. The Rebels added another three runs in the second inning. Ataltie Rosenbrook reached base on an error and Karissa Hurd singled to left. Both runners would score when Loosbrock came up to bat. An error in center field also allowed Loosbrock to reach first. She would later score on a single by Mary Lou McNab. The Rebels pushed across another two runs in the third inning and three more runs in the sixth. Taylor Larson got a chance to play half the game for the Rebels and took advantage, with two hits and two RBIs in the game. The Rebels put 10 runs on the board in the game.

The Lakers struggled early to hit Thea Schneider, as she would strike out 13 batters in the game. That being said, the Lakers did score two runs in the third inning and three more in the bottom of the seventh. The Lakers swung the bat well in the final inning, getting three of their four hits in the last atbat. The Rebels didn’t give up a single earned run in the game but that means the defense has to play better when the pitcher isn’t allowing many hits or walks. The Rebels got the win 10 to 5.

Thea Schneider got the win, pitching 7 innings and striking out 13 while allowing 1 walk and 4 hits. Mary Lou McNab and Taylor Larson had two hits each and each drove in two runs. Abby Loosbrock and Schneider hit triples. Atalie Rosenbrook and Elyse Paulzine each had doubles for the Rebels.

MCC will play Mountain Lake Area Comfrey and Adrian Ellsworth in Slayton Tuesday and Thursday this week before going to Jackson for a tournament on Saturday where they will play JCC, Worthington, and New York Mills.
