The Rebel track teams traveled to Pipestone for the Bob Nangle Relays on May 2. This meet, named after a long time Pipestone teacher and coach, fielded nine area schools.
Hurdlers Ashton Kalas and Ben Ahlers continue to be a couple of the top finishers on the boys team in the respective races. Ashton finished 3rd in the 110 hurdles and 8th in the 300 hurdles while Ben was 6th in the 110s and 7th in the 300s. Eighth grade distance runner Alex Betz has been impressive early in his career as he often is competing amongst juniors and seniors. Alex placed 4th in the 800 in a personal best time of 2:18 and 5th in the 1600 in a time of 5:09. Fellow eighth grader Wesley Hause was 6th in the 3200. In the throws, Thomas Huso placed 6th in the shot put and teammate Dylan Doeden was 7th in the discus.
On the girls side, Lindsey Hause had a big day for the Rebels. She won the high jump, with a height of 4’10”, and was on the 2nd place relay team (joined by Lilly Daniels, Ashley Overgaauw and Amanda Overgaauw). Hause also recorded personal best results in her 4th place 300 hurdle race and in her 7th place triple jump leap. Brylei Schreier, Sophia Nelson, Megan Bakke and Amanda Overgaauw each took home trophies as they were the 4x800 relay champions. Schreier was also the runner up in the 400 while Nelson was 3rd in the 800. Ashley Overgaauw won both the 800 (2:27) and the 1600 (5:25). Her sister Amanda won the 3200 in a time of 11:21 while seventh grader Holland Vogel finished 3rd. Brealyn Damm had a personal record time in the 100 hurdles (19.02) placing 6th. She also finished 5th in the long jump.
