MCC GOLF GIRLS TAKE FIRST, BOYS FINISH RUNNER-UP AGAINST JCC

Murray County Central’s golf teams turned in strong performances in a dual meet against Jackson County Central (JCC), highlighted by a first-place finish from the girls team and a competitive showing from the boys. The Rebels battled chilly temperatures once again while playing at Slayton Country Club.

On the girls side, MCC secured the team victory with a score of 204, well ahead of JCC’s 255. Leading the way was Rachael Huso, who earned medalist honors with a round of 45. Teammate Natalie Einck followed with a 50 to claim second place individually, while Lizzie Daniels finished close behind in third with a 51. Additional contributors for MCC included Emersyn Meyer (58), Brielle Plotz (60), and Elysia Korver (62), rounding out a balanced team effort that propelled the Rebels to the top.

The MCC boys team also put together a solid performance, finishing second with a team score of 199 behind JCC’s 180. Kaden Landsman led the Rebels with a 45, earning runner-up honors individually. Jett Veldhuisen added a 46, followed by Josh Wolske (52), Gary Plotz (56), and Edwin Nepp (76). Co-champions honors went to Huskies Kyler Thier and Tavin Miller with scores of 41.

Both teams will look to build on their early-season success as they continue their schedules in the coming weeks.

MCC BOYS COMPETE AT WORTHINGTON INVITE

The Murray County Central boys golf team competed in the Worthington 18-hole Invitational this past Friday. The Rebels took advantage of ideal weather conditions to gain valuable early-season experience against a deep field of golfers.

Kaden Landsman led the Rebels with a round of 91, finishing 31st individually. Landsman recorded two birdies during his round and noted several positives in his game, particularly with his irons and driver. Looking ahead, he emphasized the need to improve his putting and focus on hitting more fairways off the tee. Jett Veldhuisen followed with a 98, while Josh Wolske carded a 106. Hunter Reese added a 109, and Gary Plotz rounded out the scoring with a 114. Plotz and Wolske both gained valuable experience as they competed in their first 18-hole meet at the varsity level.

Western Christian (Iowa) claimed the team title with a score of 323, followed closely by Luverne at 328. Lac qui Parle Valley and Fairmont tied for third with 343, while MCC finished 13th overall with a team score of 404. The invitational featured a competitive field of teams, providing MCC with a strong test as the season progresses. With solid weather conditions and glimpses of strong individual play, the Rebels will look to build consistency and continue improving in upcoming meets.

The Murray County Central boys golf team competed in a challenging 18-hole meet in Marshall on Monday. The Rebels faced a strong field of teams while building experience as the season progresses.

Kaden Landsman led the Rebels with an impressive round of 84, finishing 29th individually. His round was highlighted by nine pars, showcasing consistency and control throughout the day. Jett Veldhuisen carded a 98 for the day. Additional scores for MCC included Hunter Reese (109), Keagan Wiekeraad (109), Gary Plotz (109), and Josh Wolske (119), contributing to the team’s overall score of 400 and a 15thplace finish. Veldhuisen and Plotz noted positive takeaways from the meet. Both golfers shared that they were pleased with how the greens played and felt confident in their putting performances throughout the round.

Marshall Black took top team honors with a score of 290, followed by Central Minnesota Christian (320) and Minneota (322). The meet featured a deep and competitive lineup, providing valuable opportunities for growth and development. As the season continues, the Rebels will look to build on individual improvements and strive for greater consistency across all aspects of their game. The boys are looking forward to posting more competitive scores in the coming weeks as they begin conference play.

MCC posted a team score of 370, finishing behind Marshall 1 (343) and Dawson- Boyd (356), and ahead of several competitive programs in the tournament.

Rachael Huso paced the Rebels with an outstanding round of 84, finishing 6th individually. Huso’s day was marked by consistency, as she carded eight pars and maintained steady play throughout the round. Lizzie Daniels also turned in a strong performance, shooting a 90 to secure 9th place individually. Like Huso, Daniels demonstrated consistency across all 18 holes, helping anchor the team’s success. Natalie Einck added a 94 and highlighted her round with a birdie on hole 15. Additional scores for MCC included Elysia Korver (102), Brielle Plotz (108), and Emersyn Meyer (116), rounding out an outstanding team effort.
