REBELS BEAT UNDEFEATED EAGLES

In a big conference clash, the undefeated Edgerton/SWC baseball team played the one loss Rebels in Edgerton.

The Rebels would get on the board first in the top half of the first inning. Carter Benda doubled on the first pitch of the game. Benda then stole third and Derek Kluis hit a sacrifice fly to left. Benda tagged up for the first run of the game.

Carter Benda, who would have 3 walks on the night as well, scored the Rebels second run of the game on a passed ball in the top of the third. This was a theme for the game as Derek Kluis, Connor DeGreeff, and Christian Tentinger would also score on wild pitches in the same inning.

The Rebels struck again in the top of the 4th as Carter Benda would walk, steal second, and Derek Kluis would drive him in with another RBI single.

Edgerton/SWC got on the board in the bottom of the 5th, with two runs after a fielding error, but MCC answered back in the top of the 6th on a Jaeden Deacon single, scoring Derek Kluis and Christian Tentinger. Connor DeGreeff drilled a single, scoring pinch runner Aidan Dierks. Krew Schnieder reached base on a fielder’s choice and later scored on a Tanner Graphenteen single. Jaeden Deacon scored on a wild pitch and when the dust settled in the top of the 6th, the Rebels were up 13-2.

Edgerton/SWC scored two runs in the bottom half of the 6th but the Rebels answered back with three more in the top of the 7th. Aidan Dierks hit a sacrifice line drive to centerfield scoring Jaeden Deacon. Connor DeGreeff scored on a wild pitch, and Mason Wendland doubled, scoring Tanner Graphenteen.

Abe Paulzine earned the win, surrendering only 3 hits and striking out 9. Dylan Kluis would shut the door going 1.2 innings and striking out 5 batters. The Rebels improve to 5-1 and will be in action again Thursday at home vs. HLOF.
