The MCC Rebels played two games on the road this past week to wrap up a busy week with four games in five days. The Rebels lost to MLAC by one run in extra innings on Monday and then bounced back to beat HLOF 16-1 on Tuesday. The Rebels on Thursday, May 4 were taking on RRC/WWG for the second time this season. The Rebels beat the Charging Falcons 10-3 on April 18th in Slayton. This game would be different as RRC/WWG would lead early on and the Rebels had to play from behind.

The Rebels fell behind in the third inning when RRC/WWG scored the first run of the game on a single by Natalie Wahl, a ground out and a single by Mercedes Myers. The Charging Falcons added seven more runs in the fourth and fifth innings with all seven runs being scored by the bottom four of the bottom five hitters in the lineup. RRC/WWG used a combination of walks, key hits, and costly Rebel errors to score 8 runs in the game.

The Rebels have proven over and over this season that they are comfortable playing from behind. They at least don’t get rattled if they give up the first run of the game and Thursday was no different. Through the first three innings of the game, the Rebels only had one runner on base. That would begin to change in the fourth when Mary Lou McNab walked and stole second base. She came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Morgan Winter. The Rebels broke out in the fifth, scoring six runs. After a couple of walks to open the inning, Abby Loosbrock doubled in a run and Mary Lou McNab would double for two more in the next at-bat. Eyse Paulzine doubled in three runs with two outs to round out the inning. The Rebels pulled away in the 6th inning with four more runs, two coming in on a Thea Schneider base hit and two more on a Morgan Winter bloop to right. The Rebels would pull off the win 11 to 8.

Thea Schneider picked up the win for the Rebels in the circle, striking out 5, walking 4 and allowing 10 hits. The Rebels gave up 5 unearned runs on a couple of costly errors. Addison Jenniges took the loss, allowing 11 runs on 9 hits, walking 8 and striking out 7. Mary Lou McNab was the only Rebel with two or more hits in the game having a double and a single with two RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Morgan Winter and Elyse Paulzine each had a hit and 3 RBIs. The Rebels would finish the week on Friday in Cottonwood.
