In a game that had it all, a walk-off solo bomb by Jaden Deacon would win the section showdown for the Rebels in the bottom of the seventh. 7-6 over the Minneota Vikings.

There were nineteen hits total in the game between the two teams. Ten by the Rebels, with the tenth hit winning the game and nine by the Vikings in the high scoring game.

Minneota would take an early 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning getting the lead off hitter on, then sacrifice bunting him over to second to get him in scoring position. An error on the next play allowed the runner to reach third and that would be followed by a double, scoring two runs. Abe Paulzine settled the troops down by striking out the next two batters to end the inning.

As the Rebels have done time and time again, they answered the two runs and put up three of their own to take the lead back in the bottom of the first inning. Carter Benda used his speed to reach first and would steal second. Derek Kluis helped advance Benda to third on a ground out. Benda would score on a passed ball on the next atbat.

Christian Tentinger ripped a single to start another threat with the bases empty. Paulzine struck out, but Tentinger was able to steal second. Jaden Deacon walked and both advanced on a passed ball. Connor DeGreeff would walk as well, loading the bases for Dylan Kluis. Kluis delivered a linedrive single to right field, scoring Tentinger and Deacon to take the lead.

There would be no scoring again until the bottom of the third when the Rebels scored on a lead off triple plus a throwing error, attempting to get Christian Tentinger out at third on a mammoth blast to center field. The ball landed at the base of the fence and Tentinger hustled to third, beat the throw, and popped up and scampered home.

Minneota would answer with one run in the top of the fourth to cut the Rebel lead to 4-3.

The Rebels answered back in the bottom of the fifth with a Jaden Deacon two run double. Christian Tentinger, who singled, scored and Teague Meyer, who courtesy ran for Abe Paulzine, who also singled, scored.

The Rebels were up 6-3 before a plethora of errors haunted the Rebels in the top of the sixth. It all happened after the Rebels got two outs in the inning. The Vikings tied the game up using two errors, a couple of walks, and a single.

The Rebels would not score in the bottom half of the inning and in the top of the seventh, Krew Schneider who was in relief of senior standout Abe Paulzine, walked the first batter and then proceeded to mow down the next three. This energy led to Jaden Deacon leading off the bottom of the seventh. It was a battle at the plate, Deacon fouled off the first two pitches, watched three balls, before the Minnesota Twins foul ball catch extraordinaire would belt a left field walk-off solo home run to secure the big section win for the Rebels.

The Rebels will be in action on May 23rd against TMB to finish off their regular season. MCC is now 10-2.
