The Rebel volleyball team started on the right foot in the first playoff game against Hills-Beaver Creek Monday (October 24) and they didn’t look back. MCC swept the patriots in three sets, 25-13, 25-6 and 25-12. MCC went on a six point run before the visiting team needed to talk it over. Kate Slettum set the pace for the Rebels at the beginning and Zoey Iverson finished off from the service line. The two combined for 15 points, three aces, the final being a very bold game point by Iverson.
The girls picked up right where they left off in set two, this time it was Casey Miller and Elie Meyer dishing out the points and aces from the line. The Patriots were continually on their heels, only charting six points against MCC’s aggressive attack. Set three was more of the same for the Rebels and the coaches couldn’t have been happier. “We were happy that the team was able to remain focused through the errors from the other team and the changing of the line up on our side. Our serving stepped up in all three games to extend lead margins, allowing us to play around with different sets and rotation options,” Coach Furth. The Rebels will travel to Tracy on Friday (October 28) to take on the Panthers in the next round.
