Day one took place this past Wednesday. On the boys side, 10 teams, as well as a small group of individuals, participated in day one. For the girls, only 5 teams participated with, again, a smaller group of individual girls. In the 3A meet the top four teams and top twentyfive percent of remaining individuals qualify for the second and final day of the tournament. Both of MCC’s squads had a goal in mind, advancing to day two. The girls were able to advance on as a team, but the boys’ team came up short. MCC’s Hudson Schryvers advanced to the second day of competition for the boys.
MCC’s girls started out day one a bit rocky, figuring out the greens speed. However, they were able to finish out the day tied in first place. They rounded out the day carding a team total of 430. The boys also shot well with a 391, but it wasn’t enough to advance them as a team for the second day of sections. On the boys side, Lakeview is sitting in first place with a score of 327.
Rachael Huso and Elie Meyer played strong on day one. Huso shot a 102 and is currently sitting in 4th place individually and Meyer a 103 in 5th place. Huso looks to make improvements on her putting, while Meyer would like to take a few strokes away with her chipping and putting. The Rebels need to continue making small improvements and move past “bad” shots and holes if they want to clench the section title. Hudson Schryvers represented well for the boys. He shot a 93 day one with four pars and a birdie. Schryvers was the only boy from MCC to qualify for day two of sections. He will be teeing off with the other individual qualifiers.
