The MCC Rebel baseball team was back in action on Tuesday. The Rebels played host to the Flying Dutchmen in a Red Rock Conference matchup between two of the top teams in the conference. The Rebels were undefeated on the season coming into the game but that would change as the Flying Dutchmen would pick up a key win.
The Rebels took the lead in the first inning of the game, scoring a single run. Teague Meyer singled to center field but was thrown out at second base trying to advance. Then, both Dugan and Dylan Kluis both got singles. Krew Schneider also singled, bringing in Dugan Kluis to score. The Rebels drew a walk, but failed to score. The Rebels’ run would be their only run of the game. The Flying Dutchmen scored two runs in the top of the third inning on three singles and a walk. The Flying Dutchmen took it to the Rebels in the top half of the 3rd inning. The Flying Dutchmen scored 11 runs in the inning combining hits, walks, and a couple errors. The game ended in the 5th inning with the Dutchmen getting a 13 to 1 victory.
Dylan Kluis took the loss for the Rebels, pitching three innings with 6 hits allowed, 5 walks, and a hit batter, while allowing 8 earned runs. Trevin Prins picked up the win, pitching all five innings, allowing 6 hits and walking 2, while allowing just 1 run and striking out 3. The Flying Dutchmen had four players with two hits in the game the Rebels had a total of 5 hits. MCC will look to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to Russell Tyler Ruthton to complete the first trip around the Red Rock Conference.
