READ BEYOND THE BEATEN PATH

Slayton Public Library launches its “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” summer reading program on Wednesday, June 8th with a community lunch and program at Central High School. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and free for all kids age 1 – 18. Come for lunch and stay for a fun program filled with magic, stories, and laughter, “Be a Bookaneer! A Library Pirate Adventure” by Toby Kid. During the next two months, the library will host a range of free activities for children to encourage and support a love of reading. Participants can win prizes for reaching their reading goals.

Themed events include “Lunch at the Library” where kids bring a sack lunch, drink and dessert will be provided, while the kids watch a fun animated age appropriate movie together. Our library store will be open each week for kids to spend their library loot on prizes for meeting their weekly goals. Mondays in June and July bring “Come & Go Art Activities” at local parks for kids of all ages. This is a free art activity and no registration is required.

Registration for weekly classes begins Monday, May 23rd by stopping by the library during regular open hours or by calling the library at 836-8778. Library classes will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week through the end of July.
