September 28th, 2023 On 09/27/2023 at 1104am Murray County Dispatch received a call in regards to farm equipment that had come into contact with overhead electrical lines in Belfast Township. The reporting caller advised they had been shocked and a second victim had also been shocked by the equipment that made contact with the overhead electrical lines.
The victims were identified as Paul Kirchner and Kevin Boots.
Upon arrival it was determined that the scene around the farm equipment was not safe for emergency responders to approach. A Murray County Deputy was able to drive into the field and remove one victim, who was determined to be a safe distance from the farm equipment. This victim was transported to the Murray County Medical Center to be treated for their injuries; their condition is unknown at the time of this release.
A short time later Nobles Cooperative Electrical workers arrived on scene and were able to de-energize the overhead electrical lines and provided emergency responders the go ahead to approach the second victim. Emergency responders immediately loaded the second victim into a waiting ambulance, immediately transporting the victim to the Murray County Medical Center. The second victim; was pronounced deceased after arriving at the Murray County Medical Center.
Murray County Deputies, Fulda Fire Department, Fulda Ambulance, Murray County Ambulance and Nobles Cooperative Electric assisted at the scene.
