Pipestone County Medical Center and Family Clinic Avera (PCMC) is excited to welcome a new physician to its medical staff. Megan Wilkinson, MD, will begin her family medicine and obstetrics practice with PCMC on September 1, 2022, after completing her residency at North Colorado Family Medicine in Greeley, CO, where she is currently an Administrative Chief Resident.
Wilkinson grew up in Windsor, CO, and went to college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO, before attending the Creighton University School of Medicine at Creighton University in Omaha, NE.
“I was always interested in science and how the body worked when learning about it in school. I also found that I always wanted to help people who were hurt when I was growing up playing sports,” said Dr. Wilkinson. “Then, when I got more exposure and experience in the medical field, I thought I would be able to help the most as a physician and have the opportunity to interact with the most people and variety of things in family medicine,” she added.
Wilkinson says that being a physician is all about relationships and personal connections. “I love the relationships we, as physicians, are able to cultivate with patients and all the areas we are able to be involved in throughout their lives,” she said. “We are able to help mothers bring life into the world, see their kids grow up, help patients through hardships, illnesses, and life changes, and we can be there for their final moments as well. I am excited to be joining such a great team and to become a part of the Pipestone community,” she added.
