NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK AT SLAYTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

Millions of people across the country visit their libraries every week. What’s the draw? Everything! From young families stopping in for play and storytime, to students sketching out their next creative project, to seniors seeking computer help, and everyone in between, libraries o help us connect the dots from one part of our journey to the next. National Library Week will take place from April 6 to April 12, 2025, and Slayton Public Library is thrilled to announce a series of engaging events to celebrate. This year’s theme, “Drawn to the Library,” highlights all that libraries offer to inspire creativity and connection within the community.

Coloring Contest: Level Up at Your Library

Submit entries by Saturday, April 12, 2025 This is the final week to pick up a poster and enter Slayton Library’s Coloring Contest! All ages can submit a completed poster for a chance to win one of two $25 certificates from Slayton Area Chamber of Commerce. Entries will be displayed in the Community Room. Caricatures by Hector Curriel

Monday, April 7, 2025, from 7:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Slayton Library will be open late for a special event, giving those who don’t usually visit a chance to browse and meet talented artist Hector Curriel. Book Donation Drop-off

Thursday, April 10 - Tuesday, April 15, 2025, during library’s open hours Start your spring cleaning and support Slayton Library by donating gently used books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, and games for the upcoming Used Book Sale (April 16-19). Your donations will raise funds for Slayton Library, expand the library’s circulating collection, and give your friends and neighbors a chance to refresh their own libraries! Story Sharing: Start!

Celebrate reading aloud and storytelling at Slayton Library’s last story time before summer reading! Share your favorite books, your own stories or small objects in a calm, sensory friendly setting. People who don’t regularly use the public library are especially welcome!
