Everyone looks forward to the Murray County Fair, but did you know there are lots of other events that take place at the fairgrounds in Slayton? There are animal shows, dances, meetings, craft shows and picnics on the grounds each year, because it is a great venue for any special event.
The Murray County Fairgrounds offers rental facilities with ample parking throughout the year, and can be used for swap meets, wedding receptions, horse and other livestock events, or even family reunions.
The rental fee for the different buildings and areas varies by facility, and the fee schedule can be found on the Murray County website at murraycountymn. com under the government tab. Recently, the Murray County Commissioners added an hourly fee for the 4-H Building, to accommodate those who don’t need the building for an entire day.
The 4-H Building features a commercial kitchen and the common area rental has a special non-profit rate. Those who plan to serve alcohol at an event need prior authorization from the Murray County Board of Commissioners. Also for rent are portable bleachers with a seating capacity of 250 people, and there is limited storage for small equipment such as lawn mowers, golf carts and side-bysides during the winter months.
