TRIPLE A AWARD WINNERS
Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletic Award (Triple “A” Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to a high school senior with a “B” or better grade point average and who participates in Leaguesponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Congratulations to Tanner Graphenteen and Amanda Overgaauw as they have been selected as Murray County Central High Schools 2023 Recipients.
Tanner Graphenteen is a three sport athlete as he has participated in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He has also lettered in cross country. He has participated in Band for 4 years, 1 year of speech and 3 years of Marching Band. Tanner has demonstrated leadership and dedication through out his career at MCC. Tanner is the Son of Nate and Lisa Graphenteen. Congratulations Tanner.
Congratulations to Amanda Overgaauw. In addition to being selected as the local school district recipient of the Triple A Award - Amanda has been selected as the Sub-Region 10 Triple A Award Recipient. While maintaining a high grade point average taking 3 College in the School courses Amanda has been involved in Band Large Group and Solo/Ensemble contests, has participated in Speech, is a member of the National Honor Society and is the president of the Student Council. Amanda has also participated as a two sport athlete running cross country in the fall - earning 6 all conference honors, two all state , a state runner-up and a state championship, and running track and field in the spring, earning 5 all conference , 2 all state honors placing 2nd and 3rd at the state meet. Amanda has also been selected as the Region 3A Triple A award Recipient - she will move on to be considered for the MSHSL state Class A Triple A award recipient.
The MSHSL Triple “A” Award recipients are selected by a multilevel process involving the Leagues’ member schools and administrative regions. League officials will announce the four state award recipients - a girl and a boy from a class “A” and a Class “AA” school - later in March with each of the four state award recipients receiving a $1,000 scholarship. Amanda is the daughter of Jason and Stacey Overgaauw.
