Murray County 4-H is hosting twelve different events for 4-H youth of all ages to attend this summer!
Please see the list of day camps and events available this summer: Babysitting Clinic: June 9 & 10, 12 – 4 p.m. each day. 4-H members will learn about ages and stages, basic safety and care for infants, toddlers and elementary age.
Arts & Crafts: June 12, 1 – 3 p.m. 4-H members will make and take home 2 – 3 fair ready craft projects. Cost is $5/ youth to attend (K – 2 would be nice to have an adult or older youth adult helper available).
AI for Youth in Grades 3 – 6 (partnered with Murray County Emergency Management) – June 16, 1 – 3 p.m. AI for Youth in Grades 7 – 12 (partnered with Murray County Emergency Management) – June 16, 6 – 8 p.m. (pizza will be provided). During both camps, youth will be assessing the risks and the rewards of artificial intelligence (AI) with technology.
Crime Busters Camp: June 17, 1 – 3 p.m. Open to youth in grades K – 8 (camps will be split K–3/ 4–8). Youth will collect clues, solve mysteries and learn techniques like the pros.
Southwest Minnesota Regional General Livestock Judging Contest: June 18, 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Open to youth in grades 3 – 13, free for Murray County 4-H members, $10 cost for out of county youth or non-4-H members. Please register here: https://extension.umn. edu/event/sw-regional-livestock- judging-contest-murraycounty Simple Sewing: July 14, 1 – 3 p.m. Open to youth in grades K – 13, all supplies will be provided, $10 fee/ youth. 4-H members will make and take a simple sewing project, K – 3 will have one easier project, 4 – 13 will have one more advanced project.
Seed Paper: July 15, 1 – 3 p.m. Open to youth in grades K – 13, all supplies will be provided. 4-H members will learn how to make seed paper – how to plant, when and where native plants flourish best.
Seed Mosaics: July 21, 1 – 3 p.m. Open to youth in grades K – 13, all supplies will be provided. 4-H members will make and take a seed art project, learning about the design process of seed art.
The Return of the Great Grilled Cheese Challenge: July 22, 12 – 2 p.m. Open to youth in grades K – 13, all supplies will be provided. 4-H members will learn about new ingredients for grilled cheese and other food techniques along the way.
Robotics and Coding – Level 1 – Block: July 16 – 17, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. each day. Open to youth in grades 3 – 8 (K – 2 will have cloverbud activities). Cost is free, all materials and robots are supplied.
SWIM Team: Held at Slaytona Beach West in June and July on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Youth will focus on swimming strokes, healthy lifestyle choices as well as self-improvement throughout the summer. Cost is $35/ youth, open to K – 13.
