Many Murray County 4-H members and volunteers were honored at the annual awards celebration held Sunday, November 19 at the Murray County 4-H Building.
Murray County 4-H Ambassadors along with Badger Lake, Bondin Belfast, Fenton Friends, and Laker 4-H Clubs hosted the SPUDtacular-themed event, “Murray County 4-H is SPUDtacular” Murray County 4-H is honored to have a group of 34 youth Ambassadors helping with various events throughout the year and setting an example to our other 4-H members. Note missing some members in this photo because not all were able to attend the Annual Awards Banquet. (Picture Below) Members received record completion, years in 4-H, outstanding fundraiser sales, goals met, young achiever, and young youth leader awards.
Receiving $500 Murray County 4-H college scholarships were Alyssa Boerboom- Cameron 4-H Club; Danika Jackels-Cameron 4-H Club; Bennett Talsma- Chandler Hilltoppers 4-H Club; Colton Carter Currie Poco-a-Poco 4-H Club and Dylan Doeden- Slayton Shooting Stars 4-H Club.
Young Achievers Awards were awarded to Dane Hanson of Slayton Shooting Stas 4-H Club, Kendall Gass Prairie Hustlers 4-H Club, Ada Schreier, Otto Nyquist, Isabelle Nyquist, Teddy Konechne, Asher Kopperud, Britta Kopperud, and Paige Wittrock of Currie Poco-a-Poco 4-H Club Volunteers honored for their years of service to 4-H were: 5 years –Marie Heronimus, Christine Larson, Daniel Mouw, McKenna Samuelson, Brandi York, and Cat Winters. 10 years- Bobbi Jo Gunnink, Wade Gunnink, Larry Gunnink, Paul Posthuma, Jeff Boerboom, Lorna Hulstein, Wayne Mouw, April Post, and Grant Post. 15 years – Naomi Samuelson and Carol Wixon. 20 years – Dave Bau. 35 years- Dennis Ander 4-H Alumni, Linnea Surprenant, was our guest speaker and spoke on the “domino effect” and how she recognized that overtime with her involvement in 4-H as a whole.
