Slayton, MN. (10/07/2024)— The Murray County 4-H Program and Ambassador team offered a Feed our Farmers event to help local farming families during the busy harvest season. For the second year, Ambassadors have prepared, packed, and distributed over three hundred meals for area families. The idea came from a previous Ambassador, Landon Beek, when the team was brainstorming ideas on how to help the community. “Planting and harvest season is always a busy time for our farming families. If we can help out in any way it is worth it,” said Beek when presenting this to the team.
This event started at 3 p.m. with youth prepping the three hundred meals that our local farm families signed up for in the Murray County 4-H Building on Sunday, October 6, 2024. This year the menu consisted of a walking taco with all the fixings, dessert, and a bottle of water. Everything is packed up to make delivery to the fields easy for the family members who are on meal prep duties. Once all the meals were packaged and ready to go, an assembly line was created making it easy for the families to pick up the meals.
The Murray County 4-H Ambassador team is one of the largest in the state of Minnesota. Currently, the team has thirty- seven youth that are signed up as an ambassador. The team works together to create opportunities to build stronger ties within Murray County. This group has been responsible for the past four years of the community events offered by Murray County 4-H.
Mark your calendars for Turkey Bingo which is an event offered to all from around the area of Murray County. Join the ambassadors on November 15, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. for a free meal and a night of Bingo!
