Are you ready for another Community Event sponsored by the Catholic Tri-Parishes of St Ann, St. Columba and St. Mary? Well, the powers that be put their heads together and came up with an idea for Lake Wilson. It will be held on Sunday, September 18, from 2 until 4 pm. Games will be held at the ball diamond, around main street and on the green space next to the post office. Why not all meet at the ball diamond and you will find out what the games will take place. That’s also where we will be serving nachos and bottled water. All ages should plan on participating; parents and children, grandparents and neighbors, high school youth with younger children – there are many ways to compete. Remember, it’s all in good fun.
Did Grandpa and Grandma talk about the fun they had with gunny sack races? Do you know what a gunny sack is? Well, this ambitious group found some to use. How about egg and spoon races – no, not on a horse, running from point A to point B without dropping the egg…and, they aren’t hard boiled! Dodge ball that old favorite and a scavenger hunt that will make you think. Oh, and, if you were at Murray County’s Relay for Life you saw how fun (and difficult) it was to try to eat a donut, chocolate covered no less, tied to a string which was attached to a clothes line stretched from tree to tree. There will be lots of chocolate covered donuts tied to a string for you to try and devour. And, there will be nachos and bottled water in the shelter at the ball diamond, or if it rains, in the Legion.
You are all invited to join the fun in Lake Wilson on Sunday, September 18 starting at 2 p.m. This is also the date for the Good Shepherd Church delicious Swiss Steak Supper. It will be a drive-thru event starting at 4:30 and ending at 7 p.m Tickets are sold early for the Swiss Steak event, $11 or $13 at the door.
