The MCMC Board held a special meeting for the COVID Vaccination Mandate for MCMC that needs to be in place by January 4th, 2022. They held informational meetings with staff last week that were well attended reported Luke Schryvers, MCMC CEO. The hospital receives funds through MEDICARE AND MEDICAD which requires them to have a policy for the mandate in place. There are three parts to this: They must have a policy for the mandate, a process in place for exemptions (medical and/or religious) and a process to track vaccine rates. He stressed this is a personal individual decision that needs to be made by each staff member.
This policy is in place for all MCMC employees, volunteers and contracted staff that are onsite providing services to the patient. MCMC is required to comply with all laws and executive orders and guidance studies and needs to be in place by January 4, 2022. Employees not in compliance with this policy are subject to disciplinary action up to termination. Schryvers stated he stressed to employees that he doesn’t want to lose any employees through this process. If MCMC is not in compliance with the federal law, then they will lose funding to the hospital.
Employees must be fully vaccinated no later than January 4, 2022. The policy goes on to explain the information the hospital needs for their records and the processes available to employees to get the vaccine. It also touches on the requirements of those that have an exemption and when they are required to get tested each week.
The MCMC Board approved the adoption of this policy and all its parts.
