GIRLS TAKE FIRST PLACE HONORS AND BOYS PLACE 2ND
Reporter The MCC/F Warriors competed at the Red Rock Conference meet on Monday October 16th in Mountain Lake. Girls varsity took first place with 29 points and boys varsity placed second with 40 points.
Seventh grader Mara Clarke led the girls team with a second place finish of 20:41. In fifth place was Sophia Nelson running 21:04 and right behind her in sixth was Brylei Schreier finishing in 21:04. Laiken Farris ran 21:35 to finish in 8th. Having four runners in the top ten made the Warrior girls a tough team to beat. Then was Lind-Then was Emma Risacher (24:53) in 28th and Courtney Gengler (27:04) in 35th.
The boys varsity team lost by only two points to Mountain Lake Area- Comfrey who scored 38 points. Evan Bumgardner ran 16:39 to lead the varsity boys once again with a third place finish. Then was Jon Olsem (17:27) in seventh place. Silas Stapek was five seconds behind Olsem in ninth place. Then was Matthew Stapek (17:54) in 10th and Caleb Ethridge (18:01) in 11th. In 19th was Caleb Appel with a time of 18:16. Three seconds later Alex Betz finished, placing 15th. Then trio Beckett Stelter (19:27), Wesley Hause (19:27) and Zach Kirchner (19:44) finished in 23rd, 24th, and 25th. Other runners were Alex Kueney (20:38, 27th), Blaine Braun (21:38, 34th), Carter Knakmuhs (21:47, 35th), Walker Biren (23:37, 44th) and Yordi Oliverdos (26:42, 48th).
The junior high runners had a 2,000 meter course to run this meet. The girls only had one runner, Kaidyn Anderson, who placed ninth running 10:09. The boys team was in second place with 28 points losing to Edgerton who scored 27 points. Aiden Appel (7:40) led the boys team and was in second. Tyler Reith was in fifth place (7:49) and Parker Olsen finished six seconds later to place sixth. Then was Caelen Bertrand who ran 7:59 and finished eighth. In 13th was Micah Janssen (8:24). Then was William Biren (9:26) placing 22nd. Running 9:41 was Gary Plotz finishing 25th and Edwin Nepp (10:50) in 30th.
Congrats to all Warrior runners for successful performances at the conference meet. They will compete next October 26th in Madison for the section 3A Championships! Go Warriors!!
