The MCC Rebels were at home for the first time this season on Tuesday. The Rebels would play host to Red Rock Central Westbrook Walnut Grove. The Rebels split with the Charging Falcons a year ago and the Rebels were looking to get their second win in the Red Rock Conference this season. The Rebels have struggled to put the ball in play in their first two games of the season but the Rebels would get runners on base and they would drive them in on Tuesday night.

RRC/WWG got off to a good start to open the game with a walk, stolen base, and a passed ball that put a runner at third. She came into score on an error by the Rebels. With a base runner at first after the error, the Charging Falcons stole second and advanced to third on a strike out and throw to first. Sondra Reindfliesch hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Natalie Wahl from third and put RRC/WWG up 2-0. RRC/WWG would only score one more run in the fourth inning on a base hit and a wild pitch and then a passed ball. Thea Schneider pitched seven innings for the Rebels allowing just 3 hits while striking out 6 hitters.

Early in the season, it’s not odd to have one part of a team’s game better than the other. So far, the Rebels have fielded better than they have hit but on Tuesday the Rebels’ offense started to click. In the second inning, the Rebels nearly batted around with the sixth through 9th batters all scoring. The Rebels used two walks, two errors, and a pair of hits to score four runs. The big hit would be a threerun double by Abby Loosbrock which proved to be the gamewinning hit as the four runs by the Rebels would be more than RRC/WWG would score all game. MCC wasn’t done. Scoring single runs in the 4th and 5th innings with RBIs by Thea Schneider and Elyze Paulzine. The Rebels took complete control of the game in the 5th inning by batting around and scoring 4 more runs. Atalie Rosenbrook drove in a pair of runs and Loosbrock drove in another. The Rebels got the win 10 to 3.

Thea Schneider picked up the win for the Rebels, her second win of the season. At the plate for the Rebels Abby Loosbrock went 2 for 3 with a double, two walks, 4 RBIs, and a run scored. Atalie Rosenbrook went 3 for 4 with two RBI’s, a stolen base, and a run scored. Jayda Hellewell, Zoey Iverson, and Elyse Paulzine each scored two runs for the Rebels and each had a hit. The Rebels are scheduled to play MLAC on the road Thursday and Lakeview on Friday, weather permitting.
