After a rocky start through the Camden conference the Rebels traveled to Ellsworth to take on the Dragons in their first conference match of the year.

In a true conference battle, the Rebels and Dragons pushed each other to a fifth and deciding game, with MCC battling back in games three and four before falling to Adrian/ Ellsworth, 25-22, 25-16, 27-25, 25-21 and 9-15.

Zoey Iverson remained consistent defensively and was a highlight of game one as she charted four kills, but MCC was unable to put more points on the board than their hosts.

The Rebels turned it around in the third game defensively behind Kate Slettum’s three ace blocks and by Iverson (9), Celena Riley (8) and Jaelen Barstad (7) keeping the ball alive digging the ball up to tame the Dragon attack.

The Rebels showed much more control in game four’s win behind the serving of Iverson and Riley and Iverson was back on fire with four kills which ignited Atalie Rosenbrook, who chipped in with three kills of her own.

But the conference victory was not to be and the Rebels fell to the Dragons in the deciding game, 9-15.

Leading MCC from the service line was Slettum, 13 points – 2 aces; Iverson, 11 points – 1 ace and Riley, 9 points – and 3 aces. Iverson played a complete game adding 16 digs and 9 kills.

Rounding out the night was Riley with 28 digs, Slettum and Jaelen Barstad with 17 and 16 assists and Abby Loosbrock having 10 kills along with Morgan Winter’s 7.

MCC’s B-squad team also fell to the Dragons by scores of 18-25, 18-25 and 13-15, but the freshmen team came away with the victory over Adrian/ Ellsworth in three sets, 25-21, 13-25 and taking the deciding game, 15-11.
