The Murray County Central Rebels made the long trek to Dawson last week to take on the Dawson Boyd Blackjacks in a non-conference contest.

MCC fell in the first set, 1725, but found a little intensity in the second set falling short, 23-25.

After a defensive tweak, the Rebels came back to show they had what it takes to compete, winning the third set decisively, by a score of 25-11. Kate Blankenship took MCC on a run from the service, prompting the Blackjacks to use both time outs.

The fourth set was a true nailbiter as both teams battled to earn points early in the game.

Dawson-Boyd pulled ahead and started to put MCC back in their place until they had to deal with unforced errors letting the Rebels back in the game.

Senior Kate Slettum broke the deadlock at 16-16 and helped move the Rebels to the first lead of the set, but it was the Blackjacks that emerged victorious, 26-24.

Leading the Rebels were Slettum (2 Ace serves, 13 Kills and 19 set assists); Atalie Rosenbrook (6 Kills), Abby Loosbrock (3 Blocks, 5 Kills) and Thea Schneider (6 Kills, 9 Assists).

MCC’s younger squads came away with Ws, defeating the Blackjacks. JV was lead at the service line by Erynn Rohrer (6 Ace, 13 Assists) and Ava Deacon (5 Aces, 7 Digs); Attacks were paced by Suttyn Schryvers (12), Peyton De-Greeff (11) and Calleigh Doeden (9). The C team was led by Reese Gilbertson (4 Aces, 8 Kills); Avery Thovson (16 Assists, 4 Kills) in the win.
